This week has a lot of leather workers gearing up for the Pendleton Leather Show. This is an annual event held in Pendleton, Oregon, the first weekend of November. This show consists of classes, competitions, and my favorite- a trade show. This is the largest leather event in the Northwestern area of the United States. It brings together gear makers of all kinds to show off their trade, learn a little more about, and buy the good stuff. Master chap makers, purse makers, and saddle makers each have their own divisions in which to compete their different skills. Each division has classes, so even novices can bring their goods. There are classes to refine skills, like edge finishing or swivel knife finesse. Or you can sign up to make and come home with a project, such as a wallet, tote, or notebook cover.
